Happening this weekend starting on Friday 13th June is the 2025 edition of Sohome Horror Pride brought to audiences by the incredible indie horror film festival Soho Horror Film Festival. The online addition of the festival is its 6th annual celebration of queer horror This year presenting a massive 10 feature films and 25 short films from around the world and showcasing the best in LGBTQ+ filmmaking.
Here are five films from the festival that we’re dying to see:
Bystanders directed by Mary Beth McAndrews sees a group of murderous college boys get more than they bargained for when they come across a newly married couple. Gory and extremely satisfying, the film combines the ‘cabin in the woods’ horror trope with feminine vigilante fury.
Sunset on the River Styx directed by Aaron Pagniano follows a sullen metro bus driver and a blogger as they seek to become part of a death cult. Romantic and melancholic, Sunset on the River Styx is a queer vampire film we’re not about to miss.
The Judgement from Egyptian filmmaker Marwen Mokbel, sees a gay couple returning to Egypt from the US and being forced to conceal their relationship. As well as dealing with the very homophobic society they currently exist in, they must also contend with supernatural forces intent on punishing them.
Hauntology from Parker Brennon follows the campfire terrifying tales tradition as a potential young runaway is shown around her town by her older sister who insists on sharing the terrifying folklore behind the locale.
Closing out the festival is The Rebrand from filmmaker Kaye Adelaide. The Rebrand is a cutting commentary on the influence of social media that sees a pregnant bisexual videographer hired by an influencer lesbian couple intent on saving face after being cancelled.

Sohome Horror Pride is an online film festival taking place from 13-15th June. For accessibility and inclusivity, the festival is run on a Pay-What-You-Can price basis, with a recommended donation of £50 to help cover the costs of the festival. In addition, a proportion of all donations will be given to Not A Phase, a charity that provides support for Trans, Non Binary & Gender diverse adults across the UK. Much of the festival will be accessible globally but certain screenings will be geo-blocked to the UK.
